Blast Furnace
A blast furnace is a type of metallurgical furnace used for smelting iron and other metals from their ores. The process involves the reduction of iron oxide (ore) into liquid iron by the reaction with carbon monoxide produced by heating coke fuel in the presence of air and limestone flux.
The furnace is a tall, cylindrical structure lined with refractory materials that can withstand the high temperatures required for the process. It is an essential component of the iron and steel industry, and its operation requires careful control of the temperature, pressure, and chemical composition of the gases and materials inside the furnace.
