SF6 Circuit Breaker
Sulfur Hexafluoride circuit breakers are commonly known as SF6 circuit breakers. They are the devices that enable the control and protection of electrical types of equipment in the transmission and distribution of power systems.
The name SF6 circuit breaker is due to the presence of SF6 gas that is used to extinguish the arc formed during the opening of the circuit breaker. As SF6 gas is used to quench and cool down the arc, so this type of circuit breaker is safe and reliable to operate.
SF6 circuit breakers are typically used in substations to tackle high-level voltages due to their high thermal conductivity and dielectric strength properties.
